Ingredients

  • 1 pound rotisserie or chicken breast
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 3/4 cup buffalo hot sauce
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup ranch

Directions

  1. If chicken is raw then chop into small pieces and cook until done
  2. Shred chicken with a fork
  3. Add your cream cheese, hot sauce and ranch and mix until evenly coated
  4. Add cheese on top
  5. Bake in 400 degree oven for 20 minutes

Step by Step Directions

If using raw chicken, slice it into small pieces and then cook it on the stove top.

In an oven safe dish shred your chicken. The easiest is probably the 2 fork method, which is that one fork holds the chicken and the other is used to pull it apart. Or you can use your hands, or a mortar and pestle, it’s up to you.

Next, add the buffalo sauce, ranch and cream cheese to your dish. If you don’t have buffalo sauce on hand an easy substitute is just Frank’s Red Hot (or any other simple hot sauce) and butter (2 parts hot sauce to 1 part butter). I’m pretty sure that’s the original recipe, but there was a ton of debate online so like everyone else on the Internet I’m going to claim that it’s true and you can believe me or not.

Mix everything together and add a layer of cheese on top. I’ve found that some people add too much cheese, personally, I like it to just be a single, even layer on top. But this is your kitchen, your dip and your cheese, so do what you want.

Bake in 400 degree oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese has melted like you want.

Enjoy.

Variations

  • Try different hot sauces, it won’t have the flavor you’re used to, but it will “spice” things up
  • Try different cheeses, or mix the cheese in with the rest of your mixture
  • Exclude the ranch from the recipe
  • Add some veggies/onion if you want, but why would you want something with cream cheese to be healthier

  • GC: Why not just make wings? Why does it have to be a dip?
